When I went to the bank last time they had a hard time finding rolls without my mark, so I decided I should lay off for a while. I went back after a couple of months yesterday and learned they had just sold a ton of change back to their distributor. They worked around however and still got me some. I asked if they had halves or small dollars and they said they actually did. I was surprised and told them to please get them. All they had was a beat up 2001 Sacagawea and 2 common kennedys. I started looking through the rolls this morning and was getting skunked on pennies, so I moved to nickels.

In my first nickel roll, I saw a 1941 on the edge. I was glad because I have been going through a dry spell lately. I have found 4 of the rolls full of almost all 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, with two 1939s. Only one silver so far, but maybe there will be more. I was pretty excited, and I will post results here later.

Bassmaster, you may want to set up a separate dump bank. That way, you won't have to search your own dumps, and won't irritate your pickup bank. Regardless of what the tellers say, they are irritated.

I mark my rolls, so I don't think I am searching my own dump. I have considered coinstar machines. Do you think they are honest in the money they give you back? Also, there are no fees for them now, right?

Coinstars are no fees if you use the money for a giftcard.
They do charge for cash, though, I think.

A certain Canadian bank just implemented free coin counters for account holders, and I've heard that other American banks have these too. Maybe you could open a small account and dump everything at one of those banks.

I knew there was a catch to the coinstars. I will check into the free coin counter. Thanks.
