While the coins look fairly generic, the 3 coin set would be cute to gift to a non-royal baby born in 2013. There's nothing explicitly royal about the 3 coin set.

Agree with all. Too generic, no dates, no baby name.
But... I like the design, specially of $5. The coins are extremely gift-able even in separate.
Btw, take a look at the toys of sleeping baby - The Beaver and the Moose. Canadian baby.
I think to buy this stuff....

That is what I said when this Royal Baby set topic started.
I read the discription on CP catalogue. It says " This will be gift for every baby born in 2013....." I already know it will be generic. Also know it will not have the Prince name on it.

Ordered the set only for the collection. The $5 coin will wait.... and do not want to regret later about not getting the set.

By bad! I neglected to read the mint's description. This coin set is meant to be a generic set for all babies born in 2013: Quote: For royalty watchers and expectant parents alike, this coin is an original baby shower gift! My apologies to the mint for dissing the set.

Quote: The coins are extremely gift-able even in separate. +1. I went ahead and order one set for my own as my wife and I are expecting our first baby this November. I was planning to buy the baby coin anyway but this set look much better than the one that they release yearly. I do agree that this is disappointing for those Royal collector as there's no specific link to the new prince name and D.O.B. But I think it is a nice baby set on its own. The fact that all three coins are fine silver coins and with the mintage of 7500, it is not bad at all.

@Lostwords: It was smart decision. For 2013 expected baby - this is extremely nice birth gift. Good done. And again: 1. The beaver and moose as the toys 2. Side elements of coin design makes the baby to be Canadian. (Unsuccessfully trying to find something from 2007 to my son, and probably will by "Rattle" Silver Dollar). Just found on ebay: I think this struck by Pobjoy Mint 2013 South Georgia Proof Sterling Silver Royal Baby: The Kiss Coin
The date (July 22-th) appears on the coin.

I HATE the designs. Too simple. Nothing that I believe will get much attention in the future. Skipping.

I'll be cancelling my post office orders and the pre-orders I made yesterday with my rep. The set is very disappointing for two reasons:
1. Too Generic. With no name there is no real connection to to Prince George. If you show the coins to someone on the street, they will say that's nice, what is it? You have to point it out to them that it is the Royal baby.
2. No wooden box. For such a high price I would expect a nice wooden box.
As for gift giving, I rather pay $25 for the 25 cent coin rather blow $250 for something useless. I would buy something more practical for someone's new baby.

not too mention, I bet there will be a george coin out in the future as it will give them time to make one.
i'll probably pick something up from the British Mint

IT would have been cool if the coin with the toys around the edge had included a toy dragon (Prince George would have liked that)
