May I ask your thoughts regarding this particular short cross penny? I haven't been able to track the moneyer...

For Saxon coinage the conjunction word connecting moneyer and mint is often MO. The mint would be LIN (Lincoln?). The letter W was often rendered with what looks like a P, so PVLFERIN or PVLFGRIN may refer to a moneyer named Wulferin or Wulfgrin. Still haven't proved my theory yet, though.

Well, I was close. Here's an indirect reference to the Lincoln moneyers of Æthelred II, and among them is a Wulfgrim.

And here's a penny of Æthelred II by Wulfgrim of Lincoln. Here the mint is abbreviated LINCO; also found an example with LINC.
