Are silver coins becoming more common in circulation? It seems like since it dipped below $20/ounce I've seen the number of coins I find go up at least threefold.

And not just modern designs either, since May I've gotten 3 mercs and watched a customer pull one from her pocket change when she went to pay. (wish she hadn't noticed it, but oh well)

It may not be just you, but it certainly isn't me!

Seriously, I can't even remember when I last saw a silver coin in circulation. At least a decade, perhaps two.

Same here, the last one I caught was a quarter in the early 90s, in a Mississippi casino.

I found a silver dime last year in my change, only because it was covered in black grime and the date could hardly be made out. Other than that, three other silver dimes and a War Nickel at my cash register last year. Nothing coin roll hunting though.

I've just started collecting last year so I don't know if it is common or not.

In some areas this is common. Due to crime. Criminals that rob houses and take coin collections rarely consider them as collections, only money. The spend them as just money so they get put back in change.

I live north of a city that has a lot of crime so I wouldn't doubt that is the cause of it.
