I came across a copper quarter today at work. It's a New Hampshire 2000 quarter. I believe it to be copper because of the coloring on parts of the surface. Are there any true tests that can be done to determine if that is what I have? I'm on my phone and can't get pictures. Sorry about that.

I don't think it's struck on a copper planchet, it was probably just dipped in copper. A picture would greatly help though.

I think you may be right. It's only in certain areas. But there is a large section where the surfacing appears different.

Need pics. It could be a plating error.

If it is actually copper on one side or both that would indicate a missing clad layer. First thing we would need would be the weight in grams, to two decimal placed preferably. If he clad layer are missing the weight will be off significantly. If the weight is not off then it is almost certainly environmental damage.
