Yes, the overflow bin mixes all denominations together. When I use a dollar coin in the vending machines at work I can hear it fall into the overflow bin. The same thing happens to a dime, nickel, or quarter if the corresponding coin tube is full.

The change counter at the casino here accepts Ike sized dollar slugs that the slot machines pay out with. I'm sure they would take Ikes too.
Their counters are WICKED fast and very accurate. I might take my discarded half dollars there to get them out of my distribution area.

I have been using many of my circulated Kennedy halves recently and people at stores smile when they get them. They seem to be better received than the dollar coins, although I used two Ikes at a store and the clerk immediately took 2 singles from their pocket and pocketed the Ikes with a beaming smile.

I use a local coin laundromat and the owner would love it if he could get machines that accepted $1 coins
