Bought these from the same seller, many of his coins have the same look to them. I am very happy with them unless you tell me they are fake! My question is, have these been "tooled" or enhanced?

Nice provincial Ae's. Nikopolis I think. The first appears to be Elagabalus with Diana reverse and the second I believe to be (my Greek is weak) I was thinking Severus Alexander and Mamaea but I think now it is Philip, reverse might be ...... Asclepius ?

The Roman coinage of the Balkans still puzzles those interested in Roman coins, due to the fakes that have come from the Balkans. Fakes are made of other types of Roman coin, however. The Roman coinage of the Balkans should be appreciated and desired as much as any other type.

Seller deals in loads of coins with this look. There was talk of tooling and enhancing in another post on the forum, so I just wanted to make sure that these were OK.
I love them. They might be a bit battered but I don't mind at all. Some of the pristine coins look fabulous, but my favourites are those that are showing their age. Otherwise you might as well buy replicas. Just my opinion!

I never really thought about tooling. Perhaps that is an indication of the fact that if there is any, it's not obtrusive. Perhaps there is some around the 'CIC' and 'ON' on the second piece. I still have to admit that it doesn't really worry me too much. For me, that still makes them MUCH better than replicas.
I agree with everyone else. They are nice coins.
