I know practically nothing about ancients, so I was wondering if anyone would be able to figure out what this is for a friend of mine. Its seen better days, but thought I'd try anyway.

It would help if you took it out of the holder ....... dontchya know.
I believe I can make out a reverse in the first photo (barely !)
Looks to be IOVI CONSERVATORI ..... roughly translates 'Zeus Saves' !
Period would be early forth century. Probably a coin of Constantine or his rival (and brother inlaw) Licinius.

Purely a guess based on a dreadful photo
