Went to my usual buy bank that has a coin counter. They were all excited to tell me I may have missed out on something big. Last week is the first week in months I hadn't stopped to buy bags from the coin counter. They had 2 guys come in with homemade wooden boxes full of coins. $9700 worth. They had everything from dimes to dollars. They took two hours to unload. They even had Ike's they tried to dump. I asked if they were coin collectors - the tellers said no. The bad part is that the bank couldn't hold all of that for me - so it all shipped. I may get the scraps from bags they partially filled. May not have been anything, but that's a lot of coin - especially when talking mixed denominations. They said they would call next time.

That would make me so sad to hear that story. It would hold a rainy cloud over my head just thinking about what could have been

Aww shoot.
I would be so upset.
Well, keep buying boxes and hopefully some of those will come back to you that way.

That's tragic (maybe). Don't ever miss your weekly visit again.

Good luck! Hearing this makes me think I need to go to my banks more frequently.

so far 1 63 dime in really good shape. too bad its taken over half the bag to get there.

about 1/3 bag of nickels done - no silver and very little in the way of good pre-60's. However I did find a BU 56 to upgrade one of my sets.

Back to it.

Well... On balance, then--the bad news is probably the good news. I guess it looks like you didn't miss out on "Grandpa's Silver Coin Stash Boxes."
