So after looking through this ENTIRE category of roll hunting, this has to be the last thing that we haven't talked about doing or looking for. So my question is, does anyone hunt for proof sets? If so, how?

I know that the chance of finding a proof set is unlikely, and to those who own proof sets most likely have acquired their collecting through purchasing or trading coins for it. Is this true?

So, in light of this undiscussed topic, lets hear it. How, if at all, do you guys proof set hunt? What was your best find? Biggest haul? Horror story?

Building an entire proof set from roll hunting could be possible, but more than likely take quite a bit of time and coin volume. I keep all proof coins that I've found roll hunting, although I've only found dimes and halves (because that's all I search).

I meant more along the lines of finding complete mint issued proof sets of coins, not building a set from coins that you find in circulation. But I guess either will suffice.

I didn't mean building a set from coins found in circulation, I meant building a set from roll hunting. The chance of finding a complete mint issued proof set in a coin roll is very slim, and in 30 years I've not even heard of it.

If you are talking about finding and acquiring proof sets in the original government packaging, then the topic is better discussed in the US Modern Coins forum.
