1938...EF45
1948...EF40 in hand it might be cleaned.

looks more like EF 45 and AU but its only a guess

Thanks for the responses. I find that the KGVI are the hardest to grade due to the lack of contrast between the highs and lows (comparatively speaking of course).

As the dies wear details of Georges hair become less distinct.Traditionally we are told to look at the hair detail for grading.Instead look at the eyebrow and ear of both King and caribou.In hand look at both of their necks.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I don't know Canadian coinage that well but they are at least EF quality

EF 40. The 1948 looks to be a higher grade (possibly AU) although also appears to have been cleaned.
