Not sure what this is, described as Lucius Veris dinarus, but I don't know whether it is silver or bronze. Only paid £4 so I am not bothered what it turns out to be!
Can anyone tell me what the pics are, they are not very good!
One of the denarius fragments I bought turned out to be Lucius Verus. This doesn't look much like him though. I wouldnt be happy guessing who though without concentrating on the legends (SEPTIMVS AVG?)
Hmmm found something that might match, but you have to use your imagination on that reverse. I will have a better look when it arrives in the next couple of days.
I am buying a lot of "fillers" to get me going, I will get a bit more picky when I start to replace them. But I'm getting lots of experience so if I pay too much now and again, it is not the end of the world and I am having a ball!
Its a Denarius of Septimius Severus, with a lot of Plough Damage. He continued the "Antonine" portraiture style of Beards, though more like Beardy-Wierdy Commodus' style. By the time of Septimius, the Denarius was about 50% Silver.
