Seems everytime I search the US coins under Half Cents and large cents, - usually in lots or mixed coins and add the word bust (draped get's misspelled too often so bust is a better serach term, ebay wants to know... "Are you looking for... the Adult Only login page or help about the Adult Only category?" Seriously I have spent 2 hours searching US coin sections only, they need to work on their algorithms! There isn't enough room or time to go through all the things ebay doesn't know about coins. To me the most frustrating part is their insipid "Item Specifics" where they try to shoehorn coins into a "product." I tried talking to them about this, with the most absurd part being that if you have the word Proof in your title they make a product suggestion which categorizes Proof coins as "Circulation Coinage."

"Algorithm" " A formula or set of steps for solving a particular problem. Don't get me wrong, just wondering, what does that search have to do with an algorithm? Its been many years since I have had to write any although my passwords are all based on algorithms. Let me know if you can. I really like talking about that stuff. Just my thoughts. As I said in my last thread, It's raining and I have nothing to do. edgman

Quote: As I said in my last thread, It's raining and I have nothing to do. As I know ebay employs a lot of search algorithims to aid in finding the items you are looking for or similar examples that may pertain to your search. I just found it funny after an hour of searching bust Half Cents and large cents that a message suggesting I might find what I'm looking for by logging into the adult section. Seriously? After an hour of not leaving the US coins section or the large cents and Half Cents pages of items? Just found it funny not really a complaint but funny. I too was bored and up late when I posted that.

When you do a search, how the items are retrieved based on what you searched is the algorithm. The steps that are taken to retrieve relevant results. I think you can redefine your search using the advance feature to require all words you are searching, not just some. There may also be the issue that there is no rules or penalty for listing your search terms for your coins using relevant terms or categories they don't belong.

Maybe ebay is telling you your list of hobbies needs to expand. ;)
