Hi, I was wondering if I can get an estimation on how much some of my notes might be worth!?
I have 3 x $20 notes prefix XBR 010508-10 8 x $20 XJT 299230 - 8 2 x $20 RZF 862972 - 3 4 x XDH 502866 - 9
Regards Justin

As with all collectables, condition is everything.
I assume, since you seem to have several blocks of running numbers, that they are uncirculated - no folds, creases or any other imperfections?

I think they were once uncirculated but someone has folded them and have a slight crease in the middle! :( I cant get photos onto here but if you can help I can send them to an email? Corners are good just the main crease through the middle of all of them!

A crease through the middle - as if someone folded them in their wallet, just once, and unfolded them again - does reduce the value compared to unfolded notes - a folded note drops to Extremely Fine condition.
I don't think anybody pays too much of a premium for consecutive numbers. Values given are for individual notes.
Now for dating them. Collectors tend to pay more attention to the signatures on the notes, rather than the actual serial numbers. But if my records are correct, the notes prefixed XBR are the oldest (dating from 1967), and most valuable: they are "Coombs-Randall" signatories and catalogue at $2400 each in EF.
Next come the XDH notes; these are Phillips-Randall notes (1968-1972) and worth $200 each in EF.
Next the XJT notes: Phillips-Wheeler, 1974-1976. The first "Whitlam notes" - Gough Whitlam changed the national titles on the banknotes from "Commonwealth of Australia" to just "Australia" during his tenure - and they're worth $220 each in EF.
Finally, the RZF notes. These are much newer, amongst the last paper $20s to be issued. Fraser-Cole, 1991-1993 series. $50 each.
Now, the market for notes is pretty soft right now; hardly anyone is paying full catalogue prices. But it should give you some idea of their relative values. Needless to say, your Coombs-Randalls are valuable, and should be taken care of especially carefully. Don't get them creased, crushed or folded. Don't try to wash or iron them to try to take the crease out or make them flatter; that will only makes things worse for everybody, including you.

I'm not sure why people keep quoting CV prices as they are just fantasy figures. Your XBR notes, if they really are in EF grade, have a REAL auction price history of $715 - $960. As there are no figures for 2013, I would assume no sales have breached those low and high numbers from 2012. http://www.australianbanknotes.net/...tes/r402.htmAlso, banknotes can't be graded by description, or even high quality scans or photos. They must be physically sighted for an accurate grading. As for selling them, ebay is your only online option.
