Hi My name is Frank And I live in sydney I came across a198 50cent piece that is a rare coin ecause it splits in two piece fom the middle I looks like it is a lamination of the material and I would like to know if it is of any value

Is is completely split in two as in two seperate halves or are they still attached and you can jack them open? A picture would be the best thing.

Such "split planchet" coins are considered mint errors, although anecdotal evidence suggests that for larger coins such as the 50 cents it is all too easy to "create your own" split planchets, just by throwing a few 50 cent coins against a concrete wall or floor at just the right angle.
