I usually hang onto any star notes I find, just on general principal. But that's because they are usually $1 or $2 notes. Today I happened to pick up a $50 star note, and that's a lot to tie up if it's not actually worth more than face value.

I tried to scan it in, but I got some anti-counterfeiting warning message and my software wouldn't let me proceed. Which is odd, since I've had no trouble scanning in other bills in the past. Maybe it's only the latest series or higher denominations?

Anyway, it's a Series 2006 with a serial number of IA 00214125* and the bill is lightly creased from being in my wallet. Any reason to hang onto it (aside from the fact that star notes are inherently cool)?

These might have some small value over face if uncirculated. If it was mine, it would end up back in circulation.

All right, I was able to take some less-than-optimal pictures with my phone:

2006-$50-Star-Note----Keep-Or-Spend?

Guess the note is a bit more creased than I thought it was...

I would put it on ebay before you spent it. There is a free insertion fees, so why not? I have sold several for over face on ebay. As odd as it sounds to us, the 2 zeros in front make a difference to some buyers on there.
