tfred Pillar of the Community Canada 627 Posts	Posted 08/09/2013 9:52 pm I bought this on ebay hoping this was a 9 over inverted 6. But it looks like a nine over 8. Do you agree? What type of 9 over 8? It doesn't look like my others. Report this Post to the Staff

There are several different 9/8 varieties, 14 I think with 22 different coins to collect is you are going for die pairings. Each one is characteristically different in how the 9/8 presents. Rob Turner wrote a nice book on the varieties. It is in it's 2nd edition at present. This is a great series to collect if you want to cut your teeth on varieties. Not too many to get and there seems to be a reasonable supply of them available. Report this Post to the Staff

The second one is the one in the Charlton catalog. http://www.vickycents.com/rev-i4.html http://www.vickycents.com/obv-o42.html Charlton Catalog Coin http://www.vickycents.com/rev-i7.html http://www.vickycents.com/obv-o45a.html The main thing to note is the semi-circle within the upper portion of the 9 which shows the inversion. Enjoy! ed I forgot to mention that the coin in Charlton has real distictive markers. A heavily repunched C in CANADA and a die crack at leaf #12 on the reverse are key.
