http://www.crimeandinvestigation.co...t/crime.htmlI was ranting in Yups thread and crossed onto this subject and felt it was good info worth sharing on the board..... I found this story most interesting for number one that they were after cash and stumbled onto the largest pallet of gold any of us could dream of, and secondly the gold belonged to J&M..... Guess who was buying large amounts of their own gold right back into house lol, you guessed it J&M..... I learned about this on a Nat Geo special recently and thought it was interesting.....

"The conversion of £26 million worth of bullion into cash was to prove a major headache for the gang and they were forced to approach a senior underworld figure, known only as 'The Fox'. He had the necessary gangland connections to smelt down and distribute the gold, specifically with the assistance of the Adams family, one of London's most notorious crime syndicates. They recruited a jeweller named Solly Nahome, who agreed to sell on the smelted down goods." I think the answer to many clues lie here. Notice The Adam's family was involved, which explains why Gomez Adam's and the rest of his family had so much wealth and treasure. He was "The Fox" or the smelter .... Remember he had it stashed away down in the under belly of the Adam's family mansion and Uncle fester and his imposter mother tried to steal it all. Lurch and the Thing were probably in charge of guarding the spoils, him and cousin It. It all adds up now.... Perhaps I should share my findings with Scotland yard.....

I disagree, the biggest gold heist in history was when the U.S. government confiscated gold back in the 1930. They forced people to take paper thereby devaluing their currency.

Ouch! Shots fired! Watch out, feds!
Or we could keep reading Fascinating Crime Stories and the like before this thread devolves into even more nattering about the government.

Have you guys ever seen the movie, "After The Fox"? It's about a clever gold heist - no guns. That name, The Fox, made me think of that movie.

I thought the Italian Job was the biggest gold heist in history.

No shots are being fired here. I didn't know the government confiscated gold. Sounds like theft on a grand scale. Nattering is what people describe others as doing when they don't want you to ask questions. People may be considered to natter about WTC building 7 for example by those who can't wrap their heads around it. My point is lets not discourage the sharing of ideas lest we all want to court ignorance. (or in the case of WTC7, want to live in a post 911 surveillance/security state.) I'm off to go learn more about American gold confiscation now, thanks to above post. One of the Die Hard movies had a big heist out of New York.
