Anybody got any idea if the mint is going to release 2013 twonies for circulation? I haven't seen any 2013 nickels either!

I've got the 2013 quarter, the half, & the dollar. I haven't seen any of the others! So are they out there, released in another part of the country? I saw a post from someone in B.C. who said he had a nickel. There are no reports of twonies anywhere. Has the mint decided there are too many out there from previous years so they aren't issuing them? Has anyone seen them in mint issued sets?

Yes, they are in the 2013 uncirculated set.
I doubt they're completely missing - usually, these coins take the better part of the year to circulate. In Edmonton, I found no 2013 loonies, until I went to Ottawa, where I found two. Back at home - still nothing!
However, toonie demand just seems lower. Not many toonies are "new-style" (unlike the new loonie, which is everywhere), and the Shannon toonie proved even more elusive. Maybe the 2013 toonie mintage is lower than usual - although I doubt it's nonexistent.

I found a 2013 nickel yesterday and threw it back into the sea after seeing it wasn't a great grade and there will be many more to find this year. But there are loonies, toonies, dimes, and quarters, too, although I haven't found any 2013 caribou quarters - only Laura Secord.

I got a roll in Winnipeg when we did the tour on the floor. Got to see where they rim them and add the edge lettering. What special things they do to make sure none are rimmed twice or not rimmed before they are struck. It was worth the whole trip just to do the tour.

I have seen several 2013 nickels and one caribou quarter in my change here in Saskatoon, and I got a 2013 loonie in Calgary last week. No dimes or toonies yet.

I've come across lots of new coins in the soft plastic wrappers, 2013 nickels and dimes, here in northern Ontario.

I'm in Southern Ontario myself so I guess they're just taking their time getting down this way. Man, we're almost 9 months into the year. Time to be thinking about 2014!

We just received our Twoonies here on Thursday. We have been waiting to receive them for months so we could start to distribute them. Not sure how many customers I have had to disappoint this year by not having them until just now.

@Gatewest
Is there any difference between the ones you get and the ones that the banks get?
