Bobby? Susan? ...I have a request. Can we have a Topic thread added like the General Discussion, but not limited for all members to post their comparison of authentic and fake coins as I did HERE where members can post their coins side by side (if they have a fake coin) with an authentic coin for the purpose of recognizing and learning between the two? And title it "Comparing Fake and Authentic Coins" ? And if so.. can you move the post I started into that topic thread? Thanks, mila_

I am trying to learn more about counterfeits and it would be nice to have just one section devoted to it. swamp would have fun at least. :)

I like the idea, BUT.....What if one has a coin that one suspects as being counterfeit? Is there a risk that the coin has never been for sale, or even shown to others, for any purpose, other that to show the coin, as such? I have such a coin, and have had it for 50 years, at least. I also have checked to see if it might be real, (genuine), but the weight is the thing that makes me wonder. It COULD be authentic, but I doubt it. Anyone? Dick

what's the coin you are talking about? Do you have pictures and have you weighed it?

Sorry I missed this one. I think we could do it in the normal forums. If we don't, then we would need a forum for US, Aussie, Canadian...... Otherwise the people that need to see them, wouldn't be likely to see them. One we have established images of authentic / counterfeit for a particular coin, I can add it to the appropriate spot in the gallery too. Whaddya think?

So you're saying we need pics of Swamperbobs collection, and then use the default photos from your coinfacts section and we're good to go? BTW Bobby, what is up with this at the bottom of the link page you provided. I even refreshed the page and it didn't change. I don't care, just thought it was curious. The ebay links at the bottom were up to date though. I had to look. quote: We have 304 registered users The newest registered user is SeatedNut In total there are 14 users online 1 Registered, and 13 Guests Most users ever online: 55 on Feb 24, 2007 at 09:41 PM Registered Users: Ken_3567

Those stats are just for the gallery, not here. The gallery is only offered to members with 50 quality posts or more.

I'm having a real problem finding feeds that I can use. They're all either off limits to display or on dreadfully slow servers. Oh and you're not a bother.

I'm impressed. I know you're not a big fan at all, and this comment tells me that you have actually been looking into it. I know it was a while ago when we had the discussion about it somewhere, and without you taking offense, I assumed it was like water on a ducks back. Probably when you first started with them. Very cool. I hope you find something that works. I'm curious, have you tried just turning your monitor to the left a little bit, and then the left again, and then the left again, and then...

Bobby, The idea came when I came across this site http://www.silver-coins.org/quote:

That is a great idea but although it is obvious that this is a fake wouldn't a more detail description on the coin(s) and reason why it is a fake be included, like a teaching tool for others who are not familiar certain type of coins? Also, a 'short cut' to finding the topic: like in the Navigation area or somewhere it can be easily found? Oh and how about adding my fake Morgan to that gallery? mila_
