I stopped in my LCS today to see if anything new had came in. He knows I collect Canadian cents, but today he offered me 2 uncut sheets of 40 1973 $1's for $150.00 (he bought them for face yesterday). There is a black ink blotch about the size of a dime on the outer edge of one of the sheets...the other is immaculate, both are crisp. I don't usually collect paper money, but for some reason I really like these. Is $150.00 a good deal for both? I did notice that they are pretty pricey on the bay and a reputable shop up north sells them for $189.00 ea. (out of stock). Word on the web is everyone saved the '73 dollar...I'm hesitant...don't really know why. I guess because it's paper money (to which I have little to no knowledge of) and it would be my first purchase that's not a coin! I really don't need 'em...just want 'em for some reason...besides I think they would look awesome framed. sell one save the other?...got the fever. The serial #'s are either BFK or BAX I can't remember...leaning towards BFK

I had one framed for years... I got rid of it in a garage sale when I moved... I collect coins, and I found myself never really liking that sheet of ones...

$75 per sheet is a great price. Pretty sick that he bought them at face value. At least you know where NOT to take your collectibles to sell.

Quote: At least you know where NOT to take your collectibles to sell. LOL true but I don't sell (yet)...I need to though. The shop is my little secret and a treasured place for what I collect. He cares not and/or knows next to nothing about pennies or nickles or anything that is not silver or gold. I fear that I have educated him on some things a little too much, but I still get good prices on the things I purchase. All in all though I think it's awesome because I have gotten some steals there through the years! It absolutely amazes me what people will bring in and sell for next to nothing, but on the other hand I am ecstatic because they do.

Well I bit the bullet and picked 'em both up for $130.00 today. I figured I couldn't really go wrong at $65.00 a piece. I'll frame 'em maybe sell one in the near future, I kinda like 'em side by side though. I'll tell one thing my wall will look richer!

I think you got a GREAT deal...Have a look through both sheets to see if you have any rotators, ladders, repeaters..
For the price I think you got a great deal... I have sheets of the ones and twos... wish I could find the fives and tens as well... they make for great wall art in an office or around a rec room. I would suggest that when you get them framed you get them professionally done... make sure they put in a glass that restricts sunlight (or the bills will fade ALOT!) AND make sure the backing is acid free... send me some pics of the project if you ever get them framed... loved to see 'em!

Do you prefer a double glass frame so you can see both sides? (I guess it's personal opinion)...they are going to be hung in a bar/rec room,,,drinkin', poker games and movies is all that happens in there...as it should be. Thanks again for the tips!

I remember when the Bank of Canada was selling these.....I went to the local branch downtown Vancouver, and there were tons of them.....NEVER underestimate the supply of something made of paper.....there are tons out there....they make a nice collectible to frame, but dont' be deluded that they are worth anything more than face value...
You still ads for US $2 sheets......probably printed decades ago..

I don't have a double glass frame on mine.. I have only one side showing but the glass is an "anti-glare" and I was told it somehow reduces the amount of light exposure ...
kinda like what tripoli said though... I bought these not in hopes of them appreciating much in value... but they make for great art work.. and at $100 framed..it's cheap art that has generated a lot more conversation than many other pieces of art I have framed in my home

At our town's annual celebration days a couple of weeks ago,the LCS(where the C stands for just about anything collectible) was selling 1973 $1 bills, cut fresh from a sheet, for 95cents each.He sold 173.I had bet he would sell less than 100,people are usually wary of"someting for nothing" deals.
