Strange-Nickel.-Is-It-An-Error?

found this nickel today. it looks like some crystallization. could this be an improper alloy? maybe just an effect caused by improper storage? maybe an acid could cause the plated metal to do this? I have no idea so I would appreciate your thoughts on weather this is error or PMD. it is a 1954, so you know the composition.

I just got the microscope camera and do not know how to use it yet so sorry if the picture is not perfect.

thanks in advance!

1954 five cents are made of chrome plated steel.
That's rust forming beneath the chrome plating.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...
