So I just recently picked up another estate but this one has to be the largest number of coins I have ever picked up...

1000 + pre '67 quarters
1000 + pre '67 dimes

$60 in nickels
$60 in pennies

Now most of the stuff is in Fine condition at best... but there certainly some interesting pieces...

Now I'm a bit overwhelmed.. anyone have any advice on how to go through such a large collection to cataloge?

First, I think you sort by date, then look up varieties and get out your 10x loupe.

Sort by date and roughly by grade. Look up at what point the grade value becomes significant. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php For example, any 1960-1967 25c that are less than MS are pretty much just worth the silver. Then go through the specific years that have more valuable varieties.

Nothing in this batch is close to MS with the exception of a 1918 penny ... the rest of the quarters and dimes are VF at best most are VG - F...

I suppose I will start going through the stuff by dates... and hoping to pick out some gems...
