coinmaniac1, here is some more information that might be helpful. There is still more to learn about the GSA certificates.

GSA Morgan dollar SERIAL NUMBERED CARDS

If you are searching to buy an original GSA (GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION)morgan silver dollar in the original blue box and a card, or certificate is offered be sure and look at the first two numbers because these represent the year of the coin.

Example if you buy an 1879 Carson City Morgan silver dollar the card should have 79 as first two numbers, and the rest of the numbers represent the serial number. Numbers are in blue and should total (8).

Serial numbered cards were put in with the GSA coin holders that are marked UNCIRCULATED SILVER DOLLAR.

Generic cards without serial numbers at the top were put in with the GSA coin holders that only say SILVER DOLLAR .

Some cards have special information such as over dates, and are usually a small card, not full sized as the numbered or generic ones.

coinmaniac1, below is an image of a numbered 1879CC GSA COA. They are becoming very rare and very expensive. Below that, is an image of a generic certificate.
