So just need to confirm a reasonable price for the 1915H shilling in EF would be approximately $1800?

I'm not sure if the 1915H Shilling has any great sentimental meaning for you, but in my honest opinion (and others may not agree) is to perhaps not rush into this coin just because there might be one available. The price difference between EF and VF is $1600 in my catalog (2013 maccas) Are you comfortable in your abilities to risk that sort of price difference on it ?

Hey rbarat I am just trying to put together a set of the key dates for the shilling series and just kind off getting an general idea of what I should pay so that at the ANDA coin show I will know what sort of money I should be expecting to fork out and I know it will be hard but frankly I believe I can do it aptly.
Anyway this will probably be my first large purchase and I am aiming for an utterly stunning coin to add to my collection and definitely the new gem of my collection.

What do you guys think of this one at Quicksales? I already have a dipped 1915H shilling so I probably wouldn't want this but it might give omf some perspective.

That is ridiculous to be honest. It has been over dipped and at $1900 you have got to be joking me. That guy selling it should have his sanity checked if he can't tell it has had more than a 'light' wipe.

No worries omf, note the description "1915H Shilling - Extremely Fine. Premium example of this scarce date. Strike is a little shallow which is not unusual for this date. Some minor field marks but plenty of original lustre though the obverse has probably had a very light wipe." Do you think EF is about right? Very light wipe! And one side only, not likely.

I see what you are getting at now and I know it can be hard to find a honest dealer but before I buy a coin in person I always check it with my loupe

Use a bright light too, a glass isn't going to help you pick out hairlines under uniform light as these are visible from the shadows cast within them, if you don't have a bright focused light they will be invisible.

Okay so a desk lamp of sorts?

A typical desk lamp will suffice. Be careful in situations with high ambient lighting though, such will reduce the contrast and make hairlines less visible.

Okay thanks for the help wwwww anyway what is the go with dealers selling overgraded coins. I just got offered one which was apparently EF but the feathers of the emu are mostly flat and the pearls to the left of the centre diamond have completely worn away! Is it to much to ask for a dealer to offer a fairly graded coin for goodness sakes? Here it is if that is EF I have been smoking some funny things and to be honest looks like it has been cleaned as well

it doesn't look EF. The King's ear, beard and the regalia are all worn as well. Check this Ebay listing for reference. Its hard to find examples of these that are NOT cleaned, I think.
