First off, I didn't start this morning thinking about that old metal detector in the shed. I joined these forums because I'm starting to buy 90% silver coins and thought I could learn something.

After reading this here, I thought "my house was built in 1890" I have an old metal detector I got when I was 18, and had 2 hours to kill.

long story short I found an old quarter from 1964! Thanks guys, that was a ton of fun. I'm off to work, and I think I'll go out sunday afternoon to an old wooded lot and see what I can find!
Rest in Peace

Not bad for a few hours off time. If your house was built in 1890 then I'm there is a lot more out there for you to find, so maybe you just found yourself an awesome new hobby. Have fun with the searching!
