The Cleo portraits are ugly and in bronze, wouldn't you rather have a Ptolemy with her female features?

Later issues of the coin I posted has been hypothesized to be Ptolemy I with Cleopatra's female features.

Oh yeah, seems like I read about that somewhere. But no, I want a bronze portrait coin. OK OK, I'll take both.

Nothing special (or crazy huge), but here are some of my larger bronzes:

Ptolemy VI Philometor and Ptolemy VIII Euergetes II (30 mm, 22.28 gr)

I-Like-Big-Bronze.--Post-Yours-Here!--Ilbb-Thread

Hadrian sestertius (34 mm)

I-Like-Big-Bronze.--Post-Yours-Here!--Ilbb-Thread

Lucilla sestertius (32-ish mm?)

I-Like-Big-Bronze.--Post-Yours-Here!--Ilbb-Thread

Jovian AE1 (28 mm, very large for a late Roman bronze)

I-Like-Big-Bronze.--Post-Yours-Here!--Ilbb-Thread

Justinian I follis (32 mm)

I also recently got a Gordian III sestertius but still need to take my own photos of it, which I will do soon.

VK-- nice group! That Jovian is massive for a LRB.

FR-- I was wondering when you were going to treat us to a show. They're all fabulous but I especially love that Ptolemy!

The Ptolemy was just for you. I rather like it though so it won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I think I may have a 'blue' wax around somewhere ......

Nice Nero! I'm keeping an eye out for just the right one. Not sure what type I like best, and what I like best may be a moot point because of high prices.

The 'victory' Asses are reasonable and plentiful TIF. For 200 clams you might get a VF/EF portrait of a sneering Nero
. Not bad really

Yeah, FR-- in the scheme of things that coin is not prohibitively expensive. It's just that there are so many other things I like better. Just seems like I should have a sneering Nero, though.

And is it just me or does everyone else look at Sneering Nero and think John Belushi in Animal House?
