Hi and to CCF

From what I can make out from that pic.
it is a possible die chip or a plating issue.
Not a real mint error and adds no added value/premium to the coin. You do however have a slight off center strike on the coin. Not enough off to be of value but still of interest to some collectors. Once you get acquainted with moving around the site here, do some searches for info on MAD (mis-aligned dies) and OC (off center strikes) and learn their differences.
Also, always weigh up any 1983 Lincoln Cent. A long shot but
there are some copper (not copper plated zinc) 1983's out there. They have a very good premium attached to them.
Very simple to check. If your coin or any other 83 weighs
in at 2.5 grams it's just a normal zinc cent. However if it weighs a tad over 3.0 grams it could be a copper cent.

The post that forms the inside of the "8" has broken off, leaving it unformed in the bottom part of the 8. It happens.

I would check it because it is a sign for the DDO-003 not the greatest of condition but hey a Double die find is always nice no matter what IMO...although the picture on coppercoins might just be ONE incident that the 8 is filled in and not necessarily a indication of a Double die? that correct?

BenjaminsBaby:I came across three 83's this week like this. They all appeared to be from different dies, none were the 003.
Coinprocurer:Here's the linc,good luck http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=mds
