Any tips for doing this? I made my first attempt today and discovered it's VERY difficult. I have a Canon SD700IS, it took a lot of "trial and error", the results weren't too bad....you can see the close-ups in my other thread.

For my pics, coins were placed on a black surface at a slight angle, then a desk lamp was placed about 6" from the coins. I used macro mode, played around with the ISO settings, changed the light settings (cam menu) and eventually used black and white to get what I thought were the best pics of my Morgans. Still think I can do a lot better! Of course, I don't think B&W is going to work with anything but silver coins.

So can this one, I hear it specializes in coin photography or you can search google for coin photography forum, the first result is usually the best one.

Here's one of the best articles on coin photography I've ever seen. I've implemented many of the suggestions found here, and it has made a great difference.
