I have two coins that equal 30 cents and one is not a Nickel. Well, this has another obvious answer but the contemporary audience would likely never know. The answer to the riddle is a Quarter. However, another answer is a 20¢ and 10¢.

You don't say what country they are from. It could be a pair of 15c coins from the Bahamas. :)

Well, the riddle is typically said in the U.S., so it's assumed to be U.S. coins, but you're right.
