The USPS website has padded flat rate mailers for under 6 bucks that fit a lot more than the small boxes. You have to order those, but theyre free and come right to your house. Theres a few other box and mailing options they have that can only be ordered from the website but theyre all free for just the boxes or mailers.

Its actually cheaper to send two small boxes than 1 medium box if you can get it to fit. The priority mail also now comes with the first 50 dollars free for insurance so breaking it up into two small boxes would eliminate the need for extra insurance up to 100 dollars. Most of the time its really not worth it to add the extra insurance is the price is close, youll end up paying more in insurance usually in the long run. If something was worth 60 dollars and I got 50 free of insurance I usually just do that since if you send that a couple times and it doesn't get lost youll pay more in insurance than you would for the lost 10 dollars if one does get lost.

The small flat rate boxes only fit about $15 in US cents, give or take. In this case, with $100, you have no choice but to go larger. I still can't imagine UPS or FedEx beating the post office on that one, though.

I cant imagine you wouldnt be able to fit at least double if not triple or more into the padded envelopes if you can get 15 into the small boxes. You may have to roll them with bank wrappers but I would be surprised if you couldnt fit 100 dollars worth into two padded flat rates. That would still be cheaper and still have the added benefit of the extra free insurance.
