Not sure where to post this, but I have approx 30000 copper pennies I need to get rid of in the next few weeks. It would be a serious shame to dump them back into the coin machine - they are un-searched for errors, varieties, BU/AU coins, etc. I have only pulled out the wheats and S mints from the 60's and 70's. If someone is into them, let me know and we can work something out. I am not looking to make a major profit on them or anything. If this is construed as a sales ad (which it kind of is) and it bothers someone, I apologize in advance and will understand if the post gets removed. I am sure someone out there would like these pennies. I am getting out of pennies for the most part at this point. Please message me on the forum. Thanjks.

Around my part of the country the whole copper cent rush seems to have died out. I can't get any nibbles on craigslist for them.

I used to get 155 for 100 face and the guys bought everything I had. Slowly but surely they got flaky on me - they were from craigslist. Now I can't get a nibble on craigslist and ebay is no worth the time and effort. I'll end up dumping them if no one wants them at some point. I'll hold for a bit and see what happens. Thanks!

I would think a few more years and they'll be worth having. But, if you've gotta dump them now, you gotta dump them. Shipping would be a killer.

An odd idea for you... people who collect elongated pennies love to use copper. There's a Yahoo group, and there are people there I'd bet would be interested in some of your pennies. I've sold there in increments of $15 face plus Priority Mail in a small flat rate box. It fits about $15 worth of pennies.

I didn't make any money, but I did keep from just dumping them back in the bank.

Too much work? I'm not sure what you mean. I just keep dumping copper Memorial pennies into a jar whenever I spot them. My wife and kids do it too, just out of habit. I figure we're at about 45,000 cents.

My usual buyer just said he didnt want any more either. Too bad.. we had a good thing going. Why dont they just lift the stupid melt ban already!? That would get things flowing again.

I assume they'll lift the melt ban once they see the Canadian experiment (of discontinuing pennies) is a success. Then the US will discontinue minting cents, and the ban will be lifted.

Of course, if the cent is discontinued and the melt ban abandoned, the supply of available copper will spike upwards and the price of copper will be pushed downwards.

Nalabering - I found a 2009 proof and another one is somewhere but I can't remember the year. I sold a lot on ebay for 142.50 for 100 face. I paid 5$ for shipping. I had a guy contact me from craigslist, so I may work something out. If I had the patience to tie up the money I would keep them, but like some others that posted the copper craze may be dying down somewhat. It's been a ton of fun going through them. I think it's break time to focus on other coins. There will still be copper when I start again

I assume the seller paid for the majority of the shipping cost.. When I ship $100 face it costs more like $15

Sorry - buyer paid the 5$. I picked up the rest. Netted like 25 or so. Craigslist flakes are really annoying me.
