I have two of what I believe to be the Japanese one sen baked clay "coins". How can I confirm that is what they are and how would I go about valuing them?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Could you post some pictures of them?

Yes please post photos.
Prices are all over the place for this type of coin. I've seen it going as low as 20 dollars to more than 100 dollars.

I'm afraid the photos don't do them justice. I will get some better ones to post, but here is what I have.

to CCF, Dcelash! From your images I have no reason to suspect your coins are fake. However I and most people haven't handled genuine ones. It would help if you could crop the pictures to show only the coin with minimal background. Also it is helpful if you can provide an accurate weight and diameter. The provenance is also helpful. If you were to say you acquired these from your grandfather who had an extensive collection of Japanese coins, or your great-aunt who lived in Osaka for 70 years, it would be a lot more encouraging than to say you acquired them at a flea market from a skeevy fellow selling lots of Chinese dragon silver dollars. But at a glance they look genuine to me. I am envious.

I agree with wheatiefan, they look genuine in the pics you posted, although better pictures would help as well as weights amd diameters. Prices are everywhere for these coins too, I've seen them at coin shows here for as little as $20US to thousands of dollars for nice sets.

Both of them look ok to me. Price wise again - it really depends on who wants to buy them. It's all over the place.

First, thank you all very much for your responses. I am uploading better pics, but also want to address the comments. 1. Weight: I have a scale that weighs in grams, but nothing more precise. One registered at one (1) gram, and the other didn't register at all, zero (0) grams. 2. Diameter: I don't have calipers or micrometers so I'm showing the coins against a tape measure in the pics. 3. I did not buy the coins from a skeevy fellow (LOL wheatiefan!). I got them from a storage unit auction. I know nothing of the previous owner except: a. They must have been fairly old as there were many old artifacts in the unit, including a set of 1955 encyclopedias. b. They were in a bag with six (6) other coins, eight (8) coins total. One of my pics are the other 6 coins, but I didn't think they seemed to be worth much, so I didn't include them in my original post. If I'm going to call in a favor (via question), I'm not wasting it. It never occurred to me (until the responses mentioned it) the coins might be counterfeit. However, I am NOT in the business of peddling counterfeit goods, so my question is, where can I have the authenticity verified? (I am in Cleveland, OH). Here are what I hope you all think are better pics. Again, I have two of these. One looks to me to be "brand new", it almost has some shiny area to it. The other looks a little "dirty". Not sure if it was next to the other coins in the bags for years that makes it look that way. I need to optimize the images then post them, so will need a little bit of time. Additional thoughts/comments are both welcome and appreciated!

Optimizing and posting these images is a real pain, although it may partially be operator error. If you want more pics, will you give me your email address (even if you make a fake one) and I will send them there?
Thanks, Dawn

As mentioned, I don't think they are counterfeits. I haven't heard of counterfeited clay coinage and would love to obtain one to illustrate how dangerous counterfeits are these days.
The rest of the Japanese coins that you have shown are not worth a lot as they are minted in terms of millions. Unless you have a strong UNC example especially for zinc that shows no corrosion, I would say they are not worth too much unfortunately.
