Is this your coin--or is it from a museum, National Museum in Copenhagen, perhaps?
It looks late (Christian) Viking from Denmark to my eyes--sorry I don't have specifics.

Your picture was originally pilfered from the British Museum website; the coin is actually that of a Carolingian coin in the British Museum collection. It was struck under emperor Louis I in Dorestad, a now-extinct town in the Rhine delta in what is now the Netherlands.

If you have a coin similar to this, be aware that the Vikings (perhaps understandably) liked this design and copied it, both back in Denmark and in their colonies in East Anglia. Genuine "longship pennies", either the Frankish originals or Viking imitations, are all rather scarce. More modern replicas with a similar design are also known.

Well, there we go--I found the coin on this page about Viking coins, but there were no more details, until now.
