Bought this as a Domitian. Don't have one of those, but really liked the "dog" on the reverse.

Can't find anything like it in wildwinds for Domitian.

Can anyone give me a clue. No idea what is up or down. Pretty colours, but some of them may be BD.

I believe this is RIC II 434a AE quadrans, reverse of Rhino advancing left.

Looks like a chicken to me. I'm not seeing our horned friend on this one. nice coin though, looks pretty chunky.

The chunky could turn out to be something nasty.

Etchizento, I have no idea how you can see a rhino! The images all have S C on the reverse. I will see if I can go through the RIC tomorrow and find the reference for 434a. Seller did say it was a quadrans. Perhaps it will be clearer when it is in the hand. Would be great if it could clean up sufficiently to see a rhino, but I am not holding my breath :0

Well looking through RIC I could not find this type with a dog, the reverses with this coin are a Raven, Owl, Rhino, Wreath, and Branch.

I did look for helmets when I first started looking. Chrsmat you could be right. Well I always wanted an owl! I am going to have to wait until it arrives to get a proper look. Thanks echizento, I will bear that in mind when it arrives. If I can clean it up a bit, I will post new pics.

Nope, its down to the patina. Looks like good quality patina though, should be nice. My only owl is a broken ol' BD ridden little thing.

A minerva that looks like a rhino, and an owl that looks like a dog. I am looking forward to seeing this in the hand.

Received this today. In the hand it is blindingly obvious that it is an owl. Can't match it exactly to the ones on wildwinds but the examples are close enough.

The patina is lovely, does not need cleaning, very pleased with it. So still looking for a Domitan then.
