Specimen strikes can be subdivided into two finishes. Those struck prior to 1997 with mirror devices on mirrored fields, and those struck 1997 and later with the mirrored devices and lined fields.
PCGS and NGC have mixed them up in the past, because some ultra heavy cameo (or deep cameo, using US terms) have prompted US TPGs to call some proof-like and specimen coins of the 1950s-1970s as "proof" (even though Canada's first proof coins were actually struck for the 1976 Olympic series).
