Hello and welcome.

The design is that of an American gold $20 coin, but it is way too small for a gold $20 coin. It is presumably a miniature replica, made for jewellery purposes. Genuine gold, just not a genuine coin.

It's a miniature copy of a St. Gaudens $20 gold piece. Many types from different manufacturers. Here's a past thread about them:

it could be a $5.00 gold American eagle... looks like roman numerals on the front or I could be seeing that wrong...... nice ring by the way...
