My in hand gold Superman is selling for $2400 BIN but no one has bought it. Yet some people have paid more than that for pre-sale coins. I have lots of views and lots of people watching it.
Hopefully I can sell it before the market crashes. The one that sold for $1825 worries me.

@pokermandude Thats your opinion but the RCM is creating so much mediocre bling coins that truly hot releases like Superman series dont come along every year..Last year it was the Gold Hoard and this year it is Superman......so the kind of international collectors that drive up the prices arent generally interested in the commemorative RCM coins but the Superman fans are interested worldwide which sets this release apart from the usual monthly RCM releases........and to suggest the superman gold will hover over bullion value is wishful thinking but I'm sure a lot of collectors who missed out hope youre right..... |

Mark my words. One day this superman gold coin will be trading at near bullion (melt+50%, or less) levels. It will be due to a combination of an increase in the price of gold, and the loss of interest in it as a collectible coin. Sure it will take years, but it will get there. I'm not knocking people who want to buy it as a cool collectible. If they get enjoyment out of it, that's great. But assuming it will go up and up in demand and value is short sighted. A decade from now there will have been dozens of other "hot mint coins" just like this. Take a look at a coin like the Venetian Glass Butterfly which sold out nearly instantly and had a big price increase for pre-sales and the first flips. Now they are selling for barely over issue price. People selling them on ebay are starting to get less than they paid from the mint after fees. I think the 2,000 mintage will play a huge roll in where this coin goes. Compared to the 5-10k for other coins. No one can predict where things will go a year from now. But pokermandude has a point. NCLT coins tend to drop in value as their popularity is forgotten. But at the same time those coins don't have the same following that superman has. Things can go ether way.

maybe youre right..who knows what can happen to values years ahead in the future..generally I'm predicting for the next year or two. According to your analysis of the murano glass series... which started in 2011 with the ladybug ....this type of issue starts with a bang and drops back to issue price....im not sure how you arrived at that conclusion . The original venetian ladybug is selling around 1000 these days and had an original mintage of 5000 issue price 140..thats over a 500% increase in 2 years.....and the glass series are not really coins in the strictest sense..they are mixed media art pieces........The Superman gold is several leagues ahead in popularity and they are real coins with a fraction of that mintage.....good buy at 3,000

Yeah, I tend to agree with Cassidy that the demand for Superman is HUGE and goes beyond coin collectors. I was skeptical at first, but the value of the gold coin is holding up remarkably well. The mintage of 2000 will outperform a mintage of 10000, no matter how gorgeous the coin is (like the Venetian butterfly). Although if there is a 4th bug, that would change big time.  Also, the silver Superman coins are starting to climb, like the Man of Steel coin for instance, which is creeping up to the $200 level. And it isn't even sold out at Gatewest yet. The silver Superman coins will make excellent X-mas gifts and will be desired over the Candy cane hands down. Although I still want a Candy cane; just personal preference.  |

well I just scored an Autumn Bliss for 117 on ebay..I think that coin will compare favorably with the S Man series silver but ....in my opinion.... its one of the few RCM bling coins that will do as well a good ol Superman coin of any type...not that I would sell it.....its a keeper |

People want it because it's new. Where are all those NCLT gold coins from the past selling for more than issue price?

may of the 1/25oz gold NCLTs sell for more than issue price.
If you go far back enough then more do just due to melt value, but this latter point is neither here nor there. To directly compare there'd have to be an older gold NCLT with 2000 or less in mintage, and save for gold maple sets and gold coins large enough to kill somebody with, there were none that started with sub $3000 issue prices. Mind you I don't feel the gold superman will ever go above $3000. I don't think there are enough collectors that can regularly afford $3000 + coins and appreciates colour and cartoon characters on coins to support that high a jump in a 14K gold coin even if the mintage is "only" 2000.

A lot of Shields on the market right now. Lowest "buy now" I saw was $143 - no buyer.

People allready received their coins.
10.000 not a limited mintage, and they filled the market and collector's cabinets.
IMO, still be some premium for these coins, but not so high.
On Saturday, still saw the Hologram, The Shield and Modern Superman coins in the PO.

I have the strong feeling that these superman coins will doing very well on Holiday season.
Agree with silveroid. premium might not so high. (except the Gold one).

For those wondering, the gold Superman prices have soften in the last couple of days. The last few completed auctions are in the range of $2000-$2200.
I doubt if it will go over $3000 again. Let alone $5000.

Well, when it will appears the COA #1 or 2,000 ......we could be close to $ 10,000.
