few others interested in the Superman coins from a collector point of view?

I initially wanted "The Shield" as collectible and bought it only + Lenticular for fun for my kid.

Now interesting to hear Commemorative / Circulation coins collectors:
"Do the most Modern NCLT have any collectible value?"
It seems, that RCM can put on the coin whatever it wants (Paint, Crystal, Glass piece) and to issue any themed coins....

So here I close to the Superman and other "hot" items - only the resell for increasing price make them hot. Paint of the comics hero over 14K gold surface for $2.000?
I think, the auction that starts from the issue price (for all of the similar items) - only this way we can see how much people would like to pay for coin.

Sorry, I mixed here different themes and aspects.

I am just anti-hype, and liked the RCM experiment with the limit of 1 for all the 10.000 mintage coins.

@ Silveroid and the two Ottawa guys:

I appreciate your comments, even if they are just a tad cynical.

No offense to anyone, but perhaps it's up to the members to try and raise the level of conversation.

If anyone is interested in seeing this week updated ebay statistics for all the Superman coins, my post has been reinstated on page 64.

Nice trend for the Silver S-Shield coin!

I'm glad your ebay sales spread sheets have been reinstated. I thought perhaps you had fallen under the curse, thecurese9... Despite my protests above, I am interested in the pricing trends (out of good old fashioned curiosity).

This is good! I just got a shipment notification from the mint! I already received one from Gatewest at issue price. I really like the way the enamelling is done on this icons shield. The extra one will be going to a grandchild. It won't be flipped. I'm not that much of a hypocrite.

Congrats Northerncoins!

Our names must both be on the mint's "Delay These Guys Shipping for Awhile" list.

I'll be interested to see if there are any noticeable differences between the two Shields as I believe the one on its way was hand enamelled much later than the first one.

I got my Man of Steel coin from Gatewest yesterday, great service and fast shipping! This coin has just edged out my hologram coin as my new favorite. The color is vibrant and crisp, with really nice engraving to make the city stand out. My modern day coin is now a distant third. The vintage/ lenticular I'm still waiting for from the mint. I've never really been impressed by the shield so didn't order it.

i just got a bill from the RCM for a Man oSteel on waiting...thats a good deal at 109.00 + 7.00 pst.... these days!..I will say the good ol RCM may be slow but they are sure......anyways I notice the ebay prices are getting better and topping the 200 mark for 1 oz coins ...but its the established sellers who get the overall best prices...buyers will pay a premium for a worryfree transaction..and I agree with moneypenney that buyers rule on ebay....as a long time ebay seller with over 2500 transactions I know that..... only too well...sob

These are really fabulous coins. Each of the seven coins is a work of art and and a fine example of today's minting capabilities.

Or is it just the dollar value that maintains your interest in this series?

NuMoosematist, I'm primarily a collector. I initially purchased four of the silver Superman coins. I liked the designs and the first achromatic hologram plus the hand-painted shield were added bonuses. The presentation cases and boxes were a nice touch. Then upon reading your posts on the vintage and lenticular coin & stamp set, I was sold and picked them up as well. I passed on the gold Superman because it was not affordable for me and now even more so. Would love to have it and complete the set but I'm happy with what I have right now. I think the Mint did a great job with these coins.

With that said, I've recently tried my hand at selling and flipping...mainly older RCM coins or world coins. Hoping to generate more income to feed my addiction.....for coin collecting that is . I'm really small time though so it probably isn't even worth mentioning

jpaiva83, thanks for that vid! I've almost forgotten the Heritage Minute series. I remember they'd come on all the time during my lunch and after school tv programs :)

thecurse9, thanks for the charts! they are awesome.

Does anyone know what GateWest use to wrap the coin when ship? I do not want to have some black inks leave on the outer box.

Why not?

You can sell it in ebay as a RARE coin

On the outer box, not the coin. :). Let's say you have a coin with White or bright color outer box, you won't happy if there is some black ink mark leave on the outer box.
