@silveroid it might be a bad move because some are saying it might drop in value and if it does drop in value I could have sold it and re bought it to add it back to my collection.
But from my point earlier I don't think that it will. So I'm holding on to this one.

what about the poor guys who bought S Gold at 750 and flipped it for 800-1000? and they didnt even have their hands on it.....and that includes savvy dealers like Talis...so many folks including me were surprised at the response to these coins....i finally got one of my unchained vintage superman today....very excellent and underrated....also I got my Dr Who coins as well ...wow.... the display for those coins is huge..way bigger than what you expect from the images and the coin is nice too! by the way ..i decided to put some superman on ebay right now and recoup some of my coin..im not greedy and am willing to pass some of the early good deals onto others.....but like most of you I will keep one gold superman for the collection and I think that is a common sentiment and the reason why it will probably increase much further...you have to have all 7 coins to make the full set. |

all the post offices around me have lots of the vintage superman coins available. debating grabbing a few to sell at xmas....

I think in the beginning, people were worried that no one wants it so to make a profit at that time, it's not a bad deal. A small profit is better than a loosing. In hindsight, they should hold on for a bit longer but who know how it would goes. |

Is anyone besides Cassidy77, Northerncoins, Chubbycheeks, myself and a
few others interested in the Superman coins from a collector point of view?
These are really fabulous coins. Each of the seven coins is a work of art and and a fine example of today's minting capabilities.
Or is it just the dollar value that maintains your interest in this series?

@ numoosematist I think some are collectors only and seldom sell and some are dealers only and use collectible coins to make money ..but many are both..and those people deal and watch prices as well as keep coins in their collections........This Superman series seems to work for all 3 types and I'm definitely type 3....I love making money on coins and I have coins I collected as a 10 year old....

@moneypenny..sometimes the dealers dont inspire confidence..this dealer you referenced last sold something in 2008...and before that he sells something once a year.........if youre going to send this guy 3.000 you might think twice about how serious a seller he is...there are a lot of reputable active sellers to choose from..Im not saying the guy isn't honest...its just scary for a buyer to send 3000 dollars to just anybody..and there are a lot of newbies and just anybody type sellers offering Superman these days so I would reccommend the ebay buyer to.......choose wisely |

Cassidy77, under ebay regulations, the Buyer is overwhelming favoured over the Seller. If the buyer said he did not get the item he gets a full refund. It does not matter if the seller has zero feedback as the buyer is covered under the Buyers Protection. On the other hand, if the transaction goes haywire, the seller gets shafted as he can't even leave negative feedback. The power is in the hand of the buyer. The seller has no protection except for insurance and coins can only be insured for up to $500. Edited by MoneyPenney

I've recently purchased a ladybug and it is significantly cheaper than the superman gold coin. I was nervous when I didn't hear back from seller for 5 days. Yes, even though I know I am pretty safe to get my money back if things don't work out, there's still a worry. What if that guy took the money and cancel all his accounts? Do I want to go through all the trouble if things were to go bad? and this is coming from someone that buy and sell stuffs on ebay. Imagine if you are new to ebay and want to buy it. I agree with Cassidy, if I was to buy something that expensive, I better do my research on the seller Edited by Lostwords

Now and again, you see older NCLT based on a collecting theme (e.g., ships, animals, etc.), I even posted an older hockey coin once where a coin flipper called it "junk". Numismatists, and those who are in the hobby for reasons other than flipping coins just grow weary of this, and generally stop participating.  I have to say I don't care one iota about the Superman coins but unfortunately they seem to dominate the discussions here lately. I will be glad when the hype dies for these ones but then we'll be on to the next 'hot' coin and we can speculate and ruminate about how high they will go etc. etc.  |
