One of my fellow employees showed up to work yesterday and asked me if I wanted to look at some coins he brought in with him since he knows I am collecting coins now. He had 35 liberty halves in 2 albums that he said he had collected over the years. He asked me if I wanted to buy some and I bought all of them. He only invested face value into them and said he wanted to sell them to someone who would appreciate them. I asked what he wanted for them and he sold them to me for $300 which is the current melt value. I was ecstatic about the coins and the price because I feel like they're were a good deal more then that. I haven't had time to look through them fully yet but will try and get pics up tomorrow when I go through them. He told me that he has a trunk full of coins that he's looking to sell so I might try and buy more from him when I get some more money.

Yeah I was pretty happy he sold them to me. He wanted $10 a coin which I thought was pretty fair but then he said how about $300 for all of them and I was like "SOLD!"

Liberty? Seated liberties for melt? Or Barbers?

Either way, not a bad deal assuming we aren't talking about slick Barbers.

FadeToBlack

Considering the seller got them all for face he most likely is referring to Walking Liberty half dollars.

Not bad. Melt is $8.50 and many of those sell for more then melt even in lower grades. Good dates and mint marks as well. There are 5-6 that I need to finish my circulated walker set.

AVShater22,
You may want to pull the 1919D out. In F12 that is a $132 coin. Even in VG it is worth almost $40. I just picked up a pretty good one and paid that.

Rest in Peace
