Hello. Is there such a thing as a comprehensive list of all U.S. pennies ever minted. Today, for example, I learned there's a 1971S penny I never knew existed.

There is a book out called the Red Book. It is published by Whitman Publishing. That book will give you all the info on many coins such as the quantity minted. It is available at most coin stores, many hobby stores, many coin web sites, such as Amazon.com For example a place called Wizard coin supply. You could go to the Whitman Web site but they usually charge a real lot for everything unless your a dealer.

The US never minted any pennies for the use in the USA.
They only minted CENTS (look at the reverse).

The ordinary person can use the word "penny" and we all understand what they mean.
But any US collector (numismatist) worth his salt will use the term CENT.
