Good question, especially since over the years I worked at a bank, it seemed more than every other box had loose coins in them (you could hear them slide taking the boxes out for the client).

Banks in the US auction off something that is the property of an estate?

So true. I am very glad that Canada's few banks are well regulated. I feel safe using a safe box here. I wouldn't feel nearly as safe using one in the USA.
