I was wandering how you can tell a LMC proof from just a regular coin. I am talking about 1962 or 1963. DO they have the mint mark? Sorry for the NOOB question.

Neither the proof or business strike have a mint mark.

Most cases it is just strike and appearance.

The proof coins are struck with polished dies and polished planchette.
Then they are struck under much higher pressure than business strikes.

The result for the proof coin will be a mirror finished coin with full details.

What if it's circulated? I have often wondered the same thing.

If the coin (proof) is very worn, it can be hard to tell.

The proof coin should have more squared rims.

I would suggest getting some early 60's proofs and see the difference.

Not that it matters ... But a circulated 60's proof cent would have very little value.
