1988 Canadian 25 Cent Coin Question.

Mikeg66 New Member Canada 4 Posts	Posted 09/10/2013 12:09 pm Hi Everyone I am a new member to this forum, although I have read many topics on this site over the last while. I am an amateur coin collector and just recently started my collection. As I was going through some Canadian 25 cent coins today I noticed on a 1988 the beads seem to be off center from the edge of the coin only on the reverse. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is common or is this possibly an error. I have attached a picture for reference I appreciate your response and I look forward to learning from this forum in the future. Report this Post to the Staff

Alexer Pillar of the Community Canada 2632 Posts	Posted 09/10/2013 3:33 pm this is a great place to learn and get started, as for your quarter it appears normal to me. Denticles on the reverse and should have beads on the obverse. Maybe someone else will chime-in who could tell you more. Report this Post to the Staff

The edge outside the denticles on the top is wider then on the bottom. As you can see I have highlighted with the yellow being the wider section and the red being the narrow section. When the coin was struck, it was slightly off centre, so when the planchet hit the collar, it results in the denticles being closer on one area than the opposite. Still well within tolerances though.
