I picked up this one from the RCNA auction (thanks to Zonad )

Clipped-Coin-In-PL-Sets

I have other clipped proof-like coins, like a 1965 50-cent and a 1964 10-cent, in TPG slabs...

I am torn here - I only collect 1-cent and nickel dollar errors - so do I cut out the 1-cent and put it in a nice PCGS hard slab (grades PL-66+) or do I keep the PL set intact?

Tough call, but the penny does deserve a slab of its own...maybe its a heads or tails call.

My vote would be to keep it together.

More original if kept in the plastic and as you have told me before ...the "right collectors" know how to properly grade a coin.

My vote would be to slab it, but it does look pretty in its original packaging too.

The end justifies the means. If it's to match up with your collection, presuming your other 1c errors are in PCGS hard slabs, go for it.

I'd keep it intact. More original that way.

To me it seems odd to see an error in a PL set....more interesting to see in a set as apposed to slabbed and mentioned it had come from a PL set.

Nice find SPP

Roger, your small cent collection is simply perfect. There is no place in such a fine collection for the damaged stuff. Package it all up and drop it off here tomorrow when you come. I would ease your mind buds. Hate to see you in anguish......
