Just bought a beautiful coin of Cartage, probably of Sicily.

Obv: Head of Kore left wreathed with reeds
Rev: Horse standing right; behind, date-palm. Linear border
CALCIATI pag. 388 20/10
Gr: 2,59
Dm: 16 mm.

It looks a LOT better than by other Cartage coin and it was ony 36 euro's!

Last coin for this month!

I am loving the Palm Tree. The horse is interesting and the bust is gorgeous.

What I would do! I would Verdi-Care the crap out of the light green spot on the obverse, and Ren-Wax it.

You want to keep it a gorgeous piece, if left unattended that light green spot with eat the whole of your coin.

that's a great lookin coin, super details.
that little green spot (that I missed at first) does look kind of like BD. does any of it flake off to light picking? if so...it is BD. pick it, then hit it with water, repeat until happy. if I had one that nice, I may go with some verdi-care, I don't have any but must people really seem to like it.

If its bd, ill give it a try with verdi-care..I read a lot of positive reactions treating bd. Despite the green spot I really love this coin!

First, distilled water, changing every day for about a week (remove the green stuff with the sewing needle but dont work it to the metal). This removes the ions all over the coin - the Verdicare then finishes up and adds a protective layer. Renwax to protect this layer, then whack that in an airtite. Then put the airtite into a 2x2, then into an album page, the album into a bag full of dessicant, then the bag of dessicant into a lock tight tupperware box full of dessicant. Then put this into a lead chest, into a fireproof safe and then build a bunker under your garden to store the safe in.

Where abouts you stop in the plan is up to you, but id miss no stops in keeping this one safe!

Dutch, if you need verdi-care, you need to track down Thadd who is the inventor. He will give a discount to CCF members and may do a cheaper postage than the $43 shipping that wizardrycoinsupply charged me. I am sure someone on here knows his CCF name.
