Said the teller as I was asking to buy cwr dimes and any half dollars. She then said I have this silver dime here which she traded me for a clad, a nice 1959. As for the other $45 in cwr dimes and $27 in halves all junk

I wish my tellers would do that. They check to make sure the lose halves aren't silver before they give them to me.

I have several banks where the tellers can cherry pick, but they can't keep. To them, it's first come first serve to the customers asking for any "funny money", I've missed out on multiple solid rolls of silver quarters and half dollars because I was just too late...the tellers tell me all about it, I try to keep a stiff upper lip.

Personally I don't get rolls like dimes or halves. In my opinion they tie up too much money. 5 bucks a roll for dimes is a lot. I like mercs, but I wouldn't CRH for them.

Tie up too much money? Explain. I can easily pour through a grand in dimes, dump, and get my cash back all within three hours time. Same with halves.

I buy silver eagles (one of my "20 years down the road" investment ideas), and have tried CRHing halves and dimes. But, after many tens of thousands of dollars worth of dimes and halves searched with nothing at all to show for it, I gave up. I may try again some day though.

Kind of. When I bought my roll of junk quarters, I picked 5 standing liberty without dates and a few WW2 coins to give as gifts.
