Robocp, you sound like a lot of us here! We are trying to bring youth into the hobby and as you can tell what you did with that coin may have planted the seed! We sponsored a Scout Camp Achievement Awards program this Summer that went well. (See posts about MorganFreds Scout reports. Jefferson nickel, as it's just about the only US series you can complete (with PATIENCE!) out of circulation.

Foreign? Tough one. I like Empire-era Rupees, but the AU coins with critters on them are nice eye candy.

My favorite would have to be the Flying Eagle cent. Don't know much about foreign coins
