If this is not a trick question-- It's the $20 Gold Saint Gaudens, the 1933 preferred, BUT the some 1907 specimens blow your mind away, like some that ND has shown &/or has for sale awsome-the prettiest, most valuable, most gone after coin in the USA--

Domestic then i'd have to say Gothic/Edward VII Florins... Oh heck I like all the British florins. Sentimental reasons as well as design reasons. Non-domestic. Well I love Washington quarters and $20 Liberty Double Eagles. Fond of Mercs too. And did anyone say Athenian Owl Tetradrachms? Which are fairly plentiful.

Owls might not be exactly cheap, but the question was 'which common coin is your favourite?'. In the scheme of things Athenian Owls are fairly common (most ancient coin dealers will have a few here and there), they are the Morgan dollar of the ancient Coin World. Here, there and everywhere.

I am very fond of the Greek owl and have all the coins minted in the 20th century with the owl but still dreaming of the Athenian Owl! When we get back into the world of Ancients I fear counterfeits as I don't have the knowledge to know the difference! As for other favorites I really like many of the British coins but that collection is still in its beginning stages with a few crowns and half crowns (very few) but I have my eyes on the future so there is hope!

Catman, I have sent PM! Guess the owl would have to fall in line somewhere behind my buffalo's and my Canadian Moose as they are tops at this time.
